Synthesis of ultrathin rhenium disulfide nanoribbons using nano test tubes

چکیده

Abstract The synthesis of ultrathin rhenium disulfide (ReS 2 ) nanoribbons within single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) has been established. Dirhenium decacarbonyl complex is encapsulated into the SWNTs to provide a source confined atoms, which readily react with iodine form discrete nm-sized clusters iodide [Re 6 I 14 ] 2− embedded in nanotubes. final step accomplished by admitting hydrogen sulfide gas nano test tubes, yielding twisted nanotubes, ReS @SWNTs. width, structure, and composition are strictly controlled extreme confinement host-SWNT. A holistic analytical approach combining complementary imaging analysis methods used at each synthetic elucidate structure guest material reveal role SWNT contributing towards electronic interactions inorganic structures. As expected retain properties bulk material, such as direct bandgap, low dimensional this can be interest for use nanoscale devices.
